How long is the TEAS test? The whole clock, section by section

The TEAS test takes 209 minutes, about three and a half hours, to answer 170 questions. That time is not one open pool. It is split across four sections, each with its own timer, and unused minutes in one section do not roll over into the next. With check-in and a short optional break on top, plan for roughly four hours at the testing centre from arrival to submission.

The clock, section by section

The four sections always run in the same order, on the same timers, for every test-taker.

No rollover. Finish Reading ten minutes early and those ten minutes are simply gone. Each section is its own sealed race.

Two of those rows deserve a second look. Science gives you the most questions of any section on barely more than a minute each, which is why it is the section where clocks most often run out. English gives you exactly a minute a question and no slack at all, but its questions are the shortest, so the pace is fairer than it reads.

What the pace means for how you answer

Knowing the minutes is only useful if it changes what you do inside them.

• Reading rewards moving on. Long passages tempt you to reread. At 73 seconds a question, answer from your first careful read and flag anything you want to revisit with the time that remains.
• Mathematics has the most generous clock. Ninety seconds is enough to work most problems twice. Use it to check your setup rather than to rush ahead.
• Science is a recall race. You either know the pathway or you do not, and 72 seconds is not enough to derive it. Answer, flag, move.
• English is short and sharp. One minute, one rule being tested. Read the sentence, pick, go.

There is a short optional break offered between sections. Take it. The clock on the sections does not shrink because you stepped away for a moment, and the reset helps the sections that follow.

How long including the whole appointment

The 209 minutes is testing time only. Check-in, ID verification, the tutorial screens, and the optional break sit around it, so the appointment as a whole commonly runs close to four hours.
