What the lesson concludes
- HESI rarely defines a hard word for you; it hides the definition in the surrounding sentence instead.
- Six clue types cover almost every question: definition, synonym, antonym, restatement, example, and word structure.
- Antonym clues often hide behind a small pivot word: although, but, yet, instead, however.
- Once you pick a meaning, plug it back into the sentence. If the sentence stops making sense, pick again.
